Hawaiian Lomilomi
Level 1 ~ Basic Traditional Hawaiian Bodywork.

Course Description: 35 hours of Continuing Education. Lomilomi is for friends and family!

Hawaiian Lomilomi Level 1 is a course of study in the spiritual ritualistic bodywork used by Pacific Rim people for thousands of years. This class includes a condensed history of Hawaii and the discovery of the healing art called Lomilomi. Students will be taught the four basic elements of Lomilomi massage: pule ( prayer intention) Lomi is a praying work, mele, (the rhythms of lomilomi), hula, (the dance of lomi, the strokes and choreography of the lomi routine for front and back of the body) and ho’oponopono ( the resolution or balancing of self with spirit and community).

Traditional breathing techniques for recipient and practitioner will be taught and used during training. Lomilomi draping will be taught and used during practice sessions. (This draping is in compliance with AMTA and NCTMB professional guidelines)

Upon completion of this class a student will be able to discuss the unique Hawaiian idealogy of spirit based bodywork with a potential client, perform a 90 minute traditional Lomilomi bodywork session using the distinct forearm strokes and breathing techniques of this healing art form.

It is not necessary to have any prior bodywork training to enjoy and master this bodywork process. In order to practice Lomilomi as a professional massage therapist please follow your local state educational and legal requirements.
